Are You Hearing From God?

There will be lots of times during this trial where God is quiet.  Your prayers will feel like they're bouncing off the walls, and you'll struggle to hear from Him.  These are times when anxieties and doubts invade our thoughts in full force, and we question all the truths we were so sure about.  Don't worry.  God has not left you.  He uses these times of silence to initiate in us a true desire for Himself. Without these silent times, we will never discover our innermost desire of wanting just HIM.

     - Are you seeking HIM, or are you seeking Him to fix your life? God has created us with a void in our souls that only He can fill. He is to be our true desire -- not what He can do for us, not making our lives work, not taking away our struggles. If we are seeking Him to fix our lives and make things better, then HE is not our true desire.  Pray for, and desire, an encounter with Him - now - in the midst of this trial. Pray for Him to fill you with a passion to know Him through the pain you are feeling. This is a prayer that will never go unanswered. He has promised that when we seek Him first and foremost in our lives, then every other thing we need for this life will be provided.

     - Are you saved? In order for a relationship with Jesus Christ, you must admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior and ask Him into your life. He will not enter without an invitation.

Is. 55:11, Mark 2:17, John 1:12, 5:24, 1 John 5:11-12

     - Is there any unconfessed sin in your life? Sin will build walls between God and ourselves. Confess your sin being as specific as you can. Then accept God's forgiveness. Guilt is not of the Lord.

Is. 59:1-3, Prov. 28:13, James 5:16, 1 John 2:1-2

     - Is there any unforgiveness is your life? Have you forgiven yourself of your past? Do you continually forgive those who hurt you? Unforgiveness produces a root of bitterness in our hearts. Bitterness will only keep you chained to your circumstances. You must learn to forgive the wrongs of others if you expect God to forgive you. People who are caught in the darkness of sin are victims of Satan's schemes, just as we once were.

Acts 8:21-23, Eph. 4:31, Heb. 12:15, James 3:14, Matt. 18:21-35,

Luke 17:3-4

     - Are your motives pure? Are you doing things for God, or for yourself? Are you trying to please God, or others?

Matt. 5:27-28, Ps. 51:10, Prov. 15:13-15, 4:23, Col. 3:15-17

With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God."
