Common Mistakes
I made a
lot of mistakes during this trial. Hopefully, this page will help you to
not repeat some of them. God will keep us "going around our
mountain" until we get to the point of knowing that His ways and
His words are true. We have to become completely reliant on Him in ALL
areas of our lives. Everything God does in us will go against
the world's way. And the "world" will not understand.
Jesus is the only way to fill the voids in
our lives.

- Do not look for another
"mate." Looking for another relationship to ease
the hurts we are feeling will not make things better. It will only
compound your problems. Your identity is not found in any relationship
other than that with Jesus Christ. - Do not dwell on "what ifs…" Keep
your thoughts in line with Phillipians 4:7-9. - Do not dwell on the past. We all have a past. If you cannot shake guilt, remember that guilt is not of the Lord. Conviction is of the Lord, and the only requirement when we're convicted is repentance and forgiveness. - Do not dwell on the actions of other people. The heavenly realm controls the earthly realm, and outward appearances can be deceiving. God will protect you. Circumstances are deceiving, because when you dwell on what you are "seeing," you discount what God is doing behind the scenes. - Do not try to understand the other person. Get to know yourself. Remember that God called you - and only you - into this relationship with Him. Someone else's relationship is between them and God. Let God do His job….what He knows best is changing lives. - Is your identity in God, or in another person? God will remove any "idols" that stand in the way of your relationship with Him in order to rebuild you. He is to be first and foremost in our lives: before our spouses, our children, or our jobs. |
